Editing update

After receiving feedback from both teachers and peers we have decided that due to having around 28 minutes of film we are just going to re-edit the video, putting only the best shots into the video. We are going to try to cut out some of the dancing which makes the video look less serious, as we want the band to have quite a "cool" image, like The Stone Roses or Oasis in the 90's.

Also, we plan to smooth out some of the faming, making sure the shots look crisp and neat. However, we do want to keep a certain raggedy edge to fit in with the edgy style we are pushing for.

Inspirational covers

These are some of the covers I really like the design of, some of these will be the inspiration of the style I want to do my cover in as I like this style and I believe that they are all effective. I like the use of black and white and simple text. I also definitely think that in my own work I will use real images instead of using shapes, text, graphic etc. to create a cover, I think this will allow me to create a more effective digipak with my own skills.

Album Cover

For my album cover, I have definitely decided upon using a very simple design. At the moment, I am trying to decide whether to use a photo of a person/band, or whether to create a design on photoshop.
The problem with trying to create a design, for me, is that I don't know if I can make it look professional enough.

The xx are a band that inspire me with their covers. As earlier analysed, Jamie xx keeps it simple and it's the same with his band. For every single they released the same cover, just with a different background within the "X. This consistency is something I definitely want to incorporate into my digipak. The element of using a band logo with an image behind it is something I'm going to experiment with when creating my digipak mock up.

Similar CD Covers

All these covers are very simple and have just one piece of art on the cover, this is something I may incorporate on my own digipak. My favourite cover design out of the three is the middle, Totally Enourmous Extinct Dinosaurs - Prehistory EP release, as I feel the design fits in well with his image.

Coldplay Music Videos

The videos for 'Yellow' and 'The Scientist' are both very interesting and unique. Both videos were filmed with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin singing altered versions of the song. 

The video for 'Yellow' is also interesting as it is just a one shot video. The song appears to be slow motion, although the song is played at full speed. Chris Martin had to learn and sing the song at double speed to create this slow motion effect. This effect works amazingly well for this video as the song suits the slow motion style. 







'The Scientist' video was filmed in a normal fashion, then flipped back to front. This is to emphasise the lyrics 'back to the start'. For Chris Martin to seem to be singing he had to learn and sing the song backwards. 


These ideas and adaptions from the way in which the artist sings are fairly simplistic to create a suitable affect to match the song. Similar ideas would be difficult, but not impossible to replicate.
